Daniel Hamphery researches and writes the guides on AskSonarFit. His work focuses on one problem that costs anglers time and money: knowing whether a part will work with the electronics already on the boat, before it is bought.

What Daniel Covers

  • fish finder and transducer compatibility, by model and part number
  • forward-facing sonar units, mounts and power
  • trolling motor built-in sonar and mounting electronics
  • adapter cables, connectors and networking
  • batteries and wiring for boat electronics

How Daniel Researches

Daniel builds every guide from manufacturer documentation: owner's manuals, installation guides, accessory and compatibility pages, and written answers from manufacturer support teams. When a document is unclear, he contacts the manufacturer and records the date of the answer. Each page lists its sources and the date they were last checked.

His guides are desk research. At the top of every guide you will see how it was made, and almost all are labelled Researched from manufacturer documents, which means he did not use the product himself. If a guide is ever based on hands-on use, it will be labelled Hands-on tested and will explain what was done.

He follows the site's Editorial Standards and the process on our How We Check Compatibility page.
